CJF-CBC Indigenous Journalism Fellowship

The CJF-CBC Indigenous Journalism Fellowship is offered to a First Nation, Inuit or Métis journalist with one to ten years of experience to explore an issue of interest, while being hosted for four months at a CBC location. The award aims to foster better comprehension of Indigenous issues in Canada’s major media and community outlets.

The successful applicant will:

-Spend four months with CBC Indigenous.
-Have a stipend of $30,000 provided by The Canadian Journalism Foundation.
-Write or produce a piece or series upon completion of their fellowship opportunity, which will be considered for publication or broadcast by CBC News.

Information for candidates prior to applying:

-This fellowship will take place in person at a CBC location.
-Candidates will be responsible for securing their own accommodation in the host city.
-The Fellowship will take place starting in September 2026 and will conclude in December
-Fellows will be paid a $30,000 stipend issued in semi-monthly installments.
-Successful Fellows will be asked to complete a post-Fellowship report highlighting their work and experience to be published on the CJF website and in CJF communications.
