Internship Summary
The Rover is looking for a fact-checker/researcher to join us for a 120-160-hour internship starting September 1.
As a fact-checker, you will work remotely for the most part, with some meetings and trainings at our office near Loyola campus. You’ll work alongside The Rover’s editors and freelancers to fact-check articles for publication, as well as work on data collection and analysis for a large-scale investigative project. You’ll also have the opportunity to produce a feature story with coaching from Rover editors. An honorarium will be provided. This post is ideal for students with strong research skills who are interested in working in independent media, drawn to community and/or investigative reporting, and ready to take on new challenges in a dynamic work environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Fact-check articles for publication;
- Assist with data collection and analysis;
- Contribute an article/video feature to the publication, with coaching from us;
- Other tasks related to content creation and promotion as they arise.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a graduate program in journalism, communications or other related fields;
- Be seeking a placement under a formal, credited internship program;
- Be available to meet at our office near Concordia’s Loyola Campus for training;
- Have a good command of English and functional command of French;
- Be interested in working in independent media.
